| With summer already racing by, you'll need to step lively if you want to the make the most of every weekend. Keep pace with the season—and get a real rush while you're at it—with this fast-moving Adventure: a two-night weekend whitewater rafting and camping trip in the West Virginia wilderness.Over select weekends in August, we'll make a bee-line for River Expeditions in Oak Hill, West Virginia, where our LivingSocial speed merchants will be waiting to check us in for the weekend any time after 6 p.m. on Friday. We'll have a choice of five different lodging options: bring-your-own-tent; bring-your-own-sleeping-bag (and stay in a friend's tent); rent your own tent-on-platform for two; shared rustic cabins; or luxury cabins for those who want to sleep in party-style with nine of their friends. A meet-and-greet happy hour from 7 to 9 p.m. at the on-site Red Dog Saloon will have us going at full speed in no time.The next morning, we'll enjoy a continental breakfast before heading out on a six-hour whitewater rafting trip over the Lower New River's world-class rapids, with provided lunch on the river. After we've conquered the river, we'll meet back up at the saloon for a video-viewing party to watch all the thrills and spills, complete with with two drink tickets each (beer or wine). Following our viewing, we'll dive into a barbecue dinner with live bluegrass music and an exclusive after-party at the Red Dog Saloon.We'll show no signs of slowing down on Sunday: After an optional hot breakfast, we'll be able to purchase additional discounted activities, a second whitewater rafting trip—on either the Upper or Lower Gauley River and the Upper New River—and a range of outdoor excursions. Choose among mountain biking, paintball, catwalk, zip-lining, and horseback tours. This is one Adventure that's on pace to break all kinds of records for summertime fun, so act quickly before another season passes you by. |
