Deal Name: Dodgeball Tournament: Republicans vs. Democrats
Comments: Politics can be a bruising sport, but the typical partisan mudslinging has nothing on this Adventure: a Republicans vs. Democrats dodgeball tournament on April 28 or a Pirates vs. Ninjas tourney on May 6 at Yards Park in Southeast DC -- both feature local craft beer and food trucks, co-hosted by Flying Dog, DC Brau, and Zog Sports. We'll start by heading to Yards Park, where our posse of politicos will be on-hand throughout the day. From 11 a.m to 12 p.m. on either day, we'll break along party lines and form eight-player teams (for a total of 16 Republican and 16 Democratic teams on April 28 or 16 Pirate and 16 Ninja teams on May 6), and get into all-out campaign mode with washable war paint for our team flags, faces, and clothing. Get ready for an action-packed primary calendar, because from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., competing intra-party double-elimination tournaments will determine the best Republican and Democratic squads or bring forth the bravest Pirates and Ninjas before the 6 p.m. championship match decides which party reigns supreme once and for all (or at least until November). Players will also receive LivingSocial sweatbands, and the winning team will head home with championship medals.Throughout the event we'll be able to purchase beer (from DC Brau and Flying Dog) and food from two of DC's most popular food trucks (Mojo Truck and Tasty Kabob). For those of us who want to remain Independent, spectator tickets—which include cheer sticks—are also available for $10. Players and spectators alike will receive two beer tickets and LivingSocial discounts on food truck specials. Leave the rhetorical jabs to the real candidates—cast your vote for cold beer, good food, and a day of red, white, black, and blue in our nation's capital.
