| Not that long ago, football at RFK Stadium meant Mark Rypien, Art Monk, and the Hogs—and DC's soccer scene revolved around moms in minivans and halftime orange slices. But that was before D.C. United helped kick off a new day for fans of the beautiful game in the District. Celebrate your love of the local side when you hit the pitch with your favorite footballers on this Adventure: a behind-the-scenes RFK Stadium tour followed by a private soccer clinic led by D.C. United players.Grab some soccer gear and head to Gate A at RFK Stadium (2400 East Capitol Street, SE) to meet our team of good-hearted hooligans who'll be on-hand throughout the day to help keep our boots laced up. Once we arrive, we'll set out on an exclusive tour of this historic stadium, including a look inside the actual United locker room. We'll also get the chance to pretend we're in the game as we walk alongside the field and sit in the sideline dugouts and take in the view from a player's perspective (be sure to bring a camera).Filled to the beaks with Eagle pride, we'll jog over to the practice field where four United players (players will switch depending on the date) will be waiting to check out our skills. After a quick stretch, we'll split into groups and for the next 90 minutes, we'll join the pros in a clinic, taking on the challenging shooting, dribbling, and fitness drills that the team does to get game-ready. The fun won't stop at the final whistle: At the end of the clinic, we'll refuel with a light snack while receiving an autographed player card and D.C. United/LivingSocial T-shirt and water bottle to remember the day... and show our United pride, of course. And the best part of this once-in-a-lifetime soccer experience? No minivans required. |
